BTKitty & THE KC MEDIA

It has been amazing the types of responses I have gotten in regards to the media driving out to Lawrence to cover the death of the cat. Those that "covered" the story were quick to post links pointing out that sometimes people that kill animals turn into serial killers. They said that people needed to be warned and that well the other station was covering it.

I find it funny that these "reporters" know so much information about the history of serial killers but wouldn't be able to tell you anything about street gangs, selling drugs, buying weapons on the streets etc... Why is that? Do they lack the skill and courage to take on serious issues or is it that they don't give a crap about the viewers or more fitting the LACK of viewers in that area.

Instead of standing in front of a street sign reading a script while the camera man shows footage of flashing lights and crime tape how about you get off your ass's and dig into these stories. Why drive to Lawrence to cover the killing of a cat and the possibility that ONE DAY MAYBE he will kill a couple of people? Is one person killing a few people more serious than several people killing over 100 and shooting over 100 or so more?

I understand the most of you are simply hired to look good on camera and read a script that has been handed to you but don't you have any pride? How can you go into these neighborhoods every night shoot some footage and then leave without WANTING to help these folks? Instead your TV and Radio stations spend hundreds of hours researching swinger parties, sex clubs etc... COWARDS!

Another thing, I could give a crap about how many hits I get (even though I probably get more than you do on your website) I have a real job, this is simply a hobby, yet I do a better job at my hobby than you do in your profession.

If you look to the right hand side of this blog you will find a blogroll full of people that are more in touch and better skilled at discussing what is going on. People that understand this city, live in this city and truly care about this city. Most of you will be gone in a couple of years either moving into a bigger market or dropping into a lower market. We will still be here.

This is not a blanket post, I know for a fact that there are good reporters, broadcasters, producers and wrtiers in this city. There are great people at KCTV 5, FOx 4, KSHB, Channel 9, KMBZ and 710. So if you read this do not take it as a shot at you, we need more of you.
