CHINESE TEENS VS. AMERICAN UNION WORKERS

When was the last time you actually bought something of quality made in this country by a Union worker?   I can’t remember either, but I do know that my IPOD has been nearly flawless in the 2 years I have owned it.  Just look at our infrastructure.  The Irish and Chinese built the railroads and the American Union workers built our roads. …
Can you imagine how expensive and flawed that IPOD would be if made by Union workers in America?

Things of note over the weekend

  1. People are cheap. I would rather throw stuff in the trash than haggle with them.
  2. Mongolians cannot translate BBQ
  3. Sally Field is a communist, of course so is much of Hollywood.
  4. Alan Greenspan is senile.
  5. Windows Vista is a pain in the ass to install but once it is in it is worth it.
  6. My wife has no memory retention after 8:30pm, this is a good and bad thing.
  7. The IPOD I want is not coming out for 2 more weeks.
  8. Do not believe the internet when shopping. Big Wheels and Weber Smokers were not suppose to be available in the KC area and could only be purchased online. Both were brought home this weekend without ordering online.
  9. OJ should stick to murder, robbery is not in his skill set.
  10. Mike Solari couldn’t guide an offense to a touchdown in Madden.
  11. Giuliani is not scared of moveon.org or Hillary
  12. Wal-Mart is crap.

My I Tunes addiction

After two years of searching, burning, ripping and downloading I finally hit the 3000 song mark on my I Pod. The good news is that even with some movies and TV show I still have room for 7 more gigs worth of music and then upgrade (my wife will inherit my current I pod). In this time I have diversified my music listening and was surprised to see that I have 77 country songs, over 200 Blues, over 1300 Hip Hop and over 1000 rock songs. Throw in some of Disney's greatest hits, Grandma got run over by a reindeer and some Sinatra and that is my collection.

When I go through my collection the one thing that (regardless of genre) my preference seems to be music from the South. I attribute my taste in Rock music to my father, he may have the biggest rock & blues collection in the midwest. I grew up listening to Lynard Skynard, CCR, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, Steve Miller etc... all courtesy of my father. When I hit Jr. High and High School my music tastes changed to groups like Guns & Roses(still my favorite) and Van Halen. Then 1988 hit and I got a copy of an Eazy E tape from a kid that transferred to my school from Los Angles and I was hooked on Hip Hop. Back then the Hip Hop section in the music stores was non existent and we had to wait for his cousin to come and visit before we would get the new music. We would make so many dubbed tapes for friends that the tape decks we used wouldn't last any longer than a month or so. When I met my wife she was into and still is into Country music. It took me awhile but I have actually found that if you look hard enough there is enough Country music out there with a rock influence that it has become one of my favorite genres (thank you Big & Rich).

Currently the top 10 groups in my rotation are

1. Lynard Skynard
2. Velvet Revolver
3. Young Buck
4. T.I
5. Big & Rich
6. Dropkick Murphy's (if you have seen The Departed you have heard them)
7. Lil Flip
8. Ludacris
9. Trace Adkins
10. Robert Cray
