JOCO NEEDS TO ACT NOW

What is JOCO's biggest secret? That the stretch of Roe from Johnson Drive to the 18th street expressway is known as "little wyco". This is the worst stretch of drug houses, crime and government assistance in the county and it goes ignored to keep crime stats down. It is time to stop ignoring the problem and time to start busting down doors.

Yes I have a plan.

1. Remove the 18th street expressway bridge.
2. More undercover units out of the sheriffs office to do hand to hand buys.
3. If your apartment complex is government housing then you get security cameras on the outside of every unit.
4. Security at the gates. Lets not avoid the facts, these apartment complexes are housing projects. We tend to label them otherwise because we live in JOCO but that has to stop. Most cities have security guards and security gates, it is time to make this a requirement in our county.

The longer we ignore this problem the worst it is going to get.

That is the motto of the people that want to keep the Bannister Mall area free from redevelopment. Instead they want to reopen the mall because it is vital to the "black community". Hasn't that mall been in the black community for the past several years? Haven't the businesses surrounding it been in the black community as well?

So what is going to change? The stores closed, people stopped shopping in the violent and deadly Bannister Mall and blight happened. What has changed? Nothing.

I am not even in favor of putting the soccer complex and future development there. The area around it is not capable of supporting retail and office space. Any TIF money granted would be a waste of money. Instead why not use that money and drive the crime out of the area first and then build. There is a reason that the Town Center Plaza, Zona Rosa, Village West and other developers opened where they did. The ignorant leaders of this Bannister Mall group need to figure this out.

The murderers of KC are hard at work.

Last night someone was gunned down before 1am giving us an early lead on the rest of the nation. How is it that city hall and the powers that be continue to ignore the violent crimes in the Metro? Are public smoking bans and light rail really the things that they should be focussed on?

As long as KC is set up with a figure head Mayor and a city council filled with idiots nothing will change.
