One Marine's View: Corpsman to receive Silver Star at Pendleton on Friday
Hospital Corpsman 1st Class (FMF) Benny Flores, who repeatedly braved enemy small-arms fire to treat wounded Marines and an Afghan police officer, will be honored with a Silver Star on Friday in a ceremony at Camp Pendleton, Calif.Flores was riding in I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) convoy in Nimruz province’s Zaranj district on April 28, 2012, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Flores, of Guam, suffered shrapnel wounds in the blast but immediately began assisting wounded Marines, according to his award citation.
