Things of note over the weekend

  1. People are cheap. I would rather throw stuff in the trash than haggle with them.
  2. Mongolians cannot translate BBQ
  3. Sally Field is a communist, of course so is much of Hollywood.
  4. Alan Greenspan is senile.
  5. Windows Vista is a pain in the ass to install but once it is in it is worth it.
  6. My wife has no memory retention after 8:30pm, this is a good and bad thing.
  7. The IPOD I want is not coming out for 2 more weeks.
  8. Do not believe the internet when shopping. Big Wheels and Weber Smokers were not suppose to be available in the KC area and could only be purchased online. Both were brought home this weekend without ordering online.
  9. OJ should stick to murder, robbery is not in his skill set.
  10. Mike Solari couldn’t guide an offense to a touchdown in Madden.
  11. Giuliani is not scared of moveon.org or Hillary
  12. Wal-Mart is crap.

Smoked Pig

The picture to the left is that of babe the pig. While babe the pig may be a lovable character that lived happily ever after on a farm with a mentally ill man, his brother didn't meet the same fate. On Sunday I ran to Price Chopper and picked up 2 10lbs. pork shoulders for a BBQ today. There is nothing better than Babes brother slowly cooked for 6 hours with a nice mixture of Hickory and Apple wood, rub and a little mustard.

Becca was a trooper and was with me from the lighting of the fire to the shredding of the pork. When she asked me what I was cooking I told her that it was pig and she didn't say a word about it. That all changed once I pulled them both out of the smoker ( 8 hours later)and started shredding them. We sat at the kitchen table with the two pork shoulders in one tray and the shredded meat going into the other (Kerry was scrap booking downstairs and Bridget was a sleep). Out of nowhere Becca asked me where the pigs face was and then its feet etc.... Priceless.

By the way Babes brother turned out great as did the chicken that shall remain nameless.

Things I need.

This will be my next smoker to purchase. It is light enough for travel and cooks just as well as my Brinkman vertical smoker. The price has finally dropped on this thing to make it worth wild.

WEBER SMOKEY MOUNTAIN.

BBQ and BIKES

The Missouri state BBQ championships is being held in Blue Springs on September 8th this year and they are combining it with a Cycle show. Customs, Cruisers and even sports bikes. This sounds like a fun family event.
