GREAT ON HD

A few weeks ago I caught a daytime space shuttle launch on HD.net and was impressed with it so much that I dvr'd the night launch last night. It was awesome. I am not a fan of the space shuttle program but if you get a chance to watch a rebroadcast I would recommend catching it.

If the state of Missouri is interested in saving the kids of the KCMO school district they will take which of the following actions?

A. Take over the school district
B. Make the recommendation that the school board be dismantled
C. Have a plan to assist the city in improving performance

CITY EMPLOYEES ON THE INTERNET

Have you ever wondered how much time city employees spend on the internet (on your dime) reading useless sites like this one? So far today I have had a city of Lenexa employee spend over an hour off & on reading this blog through out the day.

It is one thing to have someone to surf the net while working but at the expense of a tax payer? Is this why we get money taken out of our checks every week? Is this why we get hit again when buy a home, car, investments, gas, food, clothes, water etc.....

Next time you want to increase my taxes check the productivity level of your employees before you do so.

THE GREAT BBQ DEBATE

I haven't had much time to blog lately but that should all change starting today. In my downtime I have picked up a new stalker. The funny thing about this stalker is that of all the controversial subjects I cover on this blog, this guy who chooses to post anon is a defender of Brobecks BBQ. Seriously, this is the cause that this guy champions. The defense of crappy sub standard BBQ will not be allowed on this Blog. That is rule #132. Rule #4 is that if you post anon chances are it won't get published.

BUT since BBQ is a passion of mine I will address a couple of simple items that MR. anon (in lenexa, yeah I got your info) is drastically wrong in.

1. A lot of Smoke doesn't equal flavor - Any clown that has ever competed in or been part of a competition knows this. A good place to get information about such matter is the KCBS. Too much smoke dries out the meat and takes away from the meat flavor. If I didn't want to taste the meat and the seasonings then I would eat a piece of burnt hickory or smoke a pack of Camels.

2. It is odd that a place that over smokes its meat never has smoke coming out of the building. I agree. My friends and I have been trying to figure that out for ourselves. That could be the problem. They could be trapping to much smoke in the pit.

3. Fries are important. Anyone that thinks that fries, beans, slaw, rings, corn etc... aren't important to a BBQ joint is crazy. How many times have you heard about the fries at Oklahoma Joes & Rosedale or the Rings & Beans at Jack Stack? The owners of these places take just as much pride in their side dishes as they do in the meat that they serve.

I do plan on going back to Brobecks in June for another review. I will have hoped that by then they will have figured out how to work their pit. Ask anyone that has gone to the several differnt Bryants locations through out the city and they will tell you that the stuff that is coming out of the original pit is far superior than what you get at their other locations.

SPRINT LIES TO EMPLOYEES

The jackass leadership at Sprint once again lies to its employees. Instead of getting the 2 weeks promised to them by executives at the Titanic they got ambushed at their cubicles by security and walked out. The only people treated worst than Sprint customers are the employees that keep losing their jobs to EDS & IBM employees in India.

First let me say that I absolutely hate winter. All of you global warming clones out there can kiss my ass. It is going to be my personal goal before next winter to be as crappy as I possibly can to the environment in hopes of avoiding another cold ass winter.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

1. Firefighters kept warm for 4 hours today in Lafayette County. They could of put it out in 30 minutes but why ruin a chance to keep warm on a crappy cold day like today.

KCMO SCHOOLS CAN'T STAY OUT OF THE HEADLINES

It appears that educating isn't the only thing that the KCMO school district sucks at. Add lunch to the list of things that they fail at.

I can't believe how wiped out the metro area has become with this years flu. It seems that every office (including mine) is operating at about 50% and those that are working have just recovered from it. So far I have been lucky and avoided the kc plague with a healthy diet of Kodiak and Monster Energy drinks but I am sure that my days are numbered. Is it to late to get a flu shot? and are those things even working?

I love it when someone comes into my office and says " I haven't felt good all day", I am thinking about going home. WELL NO CRAP! WHY Did you even come in to begin with? AND WHY did you feel the need to come INTO my office and tell me you are sick, STAY OUT!

Also If you work in a retail type job and you are sick STAY HOME! I don't need to drop $200 at your store only to come down with Ebola 3 hours later. I am more than willing to stand in line for 10 minutes longer because you didn't come to work

If you work at a convienent store and are working while carrying this bug then you should be locked up. Yesterday I went into Shell to get a drink and they guy behind the counter was coughing into his hand and then asked for my debit card. I told him to forget it and put the drink back in the cooler. That ranks right up there with parents sending their sick kids to school.
