How the hell does a year old end up wondering the streets in the middle of the night? Being a father of 2 little girls I can't even picture a scenario in which this happens. This seems to always happen in the East Side.

Are kids safer in schools than at home? It seems that every summer there is an outbreak of crimes against kids and/or crappy parenting. The following stories will make parents across the metro cringe.

1. Anyone that watches the Wire KNOWS that West Baltimore makes the KCMO East Side look like Johnson County. These two kids were shot in a baby pool.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 4-year-old boy was found wandering in the area of East 24th and Lister Avenue on Wednesday morning and now a relative of the boy is in police custody.

Three women (hookers) found Tywan Coleman around 9:30 a.m. and took him to the police station at East 27th Street and Van Brunt Boulevard. Police think the boy had been wandering for at least an hour.

The child was able to tell police his name and his dad's name.

An uncle, who police said was apparently supposed to be watching the boy, came to the police station to pick him up. But the man was arrested instead.

These stories never end. This is what happens when you have kids to increase your income rather than to raise them. Losing this kid was like losing their wallet. It amazes me that people in the hood will invest $1000 on an alarm system to protect their rims but not $10 to install a door that locks.

CORSICANA, Texas — A 6-year-old Texas girl was found hanged in her garage Monday and police were investigating the case as a homicide, MyFOXDFW.com reports.

Hannah Mack was discovered Monday by her mother, Dana, hanging in the garage with a rope around her neck in Navarro Mills Lake, about 65 miles south of Dallas, and there were signs that she had been sexually abused, the station reported. "I just touched her arm and I wanted to get her down so bad," Dana Mack told MyFOXDFW.com.

I feel so sick. It just doesn’t seem real.”Tina Porter said police told her they had received a recent tip as to where the children could be found.

California Infant Dies After Mom Uses Meth Pipe Swab to Clean His Nose Monday , September 03, 2007 ONTARIO, Calif.
An 8-month-old boy has died after his mother told police she accidentally cleaned his nose with a cotton swab used earlier to clean a methamphetamine pipe. Samuel Reta of Ontario was declared dead Friday at Loma Linda University Medical Center, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's office. Reta had been in a coma since police responding to a child-not-breathing emergency call early Thursday found him in full cardiac arrest. The baby also has a fractured skull, broken arm and pneumonia, police said.

police cited two parents today with child mistreatment after a passer-by found their diaper-clad children alone at a busy intersection last night.Police wrote two tickets each to Joshua L. Pacetti, 24, and Jennifer S. Pacetti, 22, after the passer-by found the children, ages 2 and 1, near Linwood Boulevard and Gillham Road about 11:20 p.m.
The passer-by told police he saw the children run into the street. He corralled them and drove to the Central Patrol Division station. An ambulance took the children to a hospital to check them out.About 30 minutes later, the Pacettis called police to report their children missing. They told police they put their girls to bed about 10:30 p.m. and awoke at midnight to find them gone from their beds. The Pacettis said the children must have opened the door to their room. The children were found about four blocks away from the home.
