Rosehill Elementary Victim of Neighborhood Sucktitude

Having grown up in that area and later lived in the Rosehill area I can tell you that this comes as no surprise.  The once family friendly and middle class neighborhoods that use to surround the school are gone and have been replaced with Section 8 housing and low rent hotels.  Some of the kids that show up for school there look like they haven't showered in days and most are on some sort of government meal program so of course they are carrying viruses.  Who the hell is going to take them to the Doc?  Everyone knows that people on government assistance carry diseases.  duh.   Keep in mind that this is the Richard Grissom Hood

Let's all face the facts here.  The Shawnee Mission School District's greatness is a thing of the past (check out the test scores for West and North) and you can thank local leadership for neglecting Northern Joco and instead expanding West and South. This has allowed for once nice apartment complexes to be turned into section 8 drug zones and single family houses into meth labs.  

That area is just another example of Northern Johnson County going to shit.  Once our kids were old enough to attend elementary school, we moved to Blue Valley without even giving it a second thought.  Who would want their kids hanging around unhealthy kids?  

True Jocoians know when it is time to pick up and head for bluer valleyer pastures.

Back in 2008 I wrote a post titled "Top 10 Media Idiots in KC" which blasted the so called media elite in this town.  These so called elite were suppose to be the best of what KC had to offer, or at least that is what they thought.  If you take a look at the top 10 from 4 years ago there is only 1 that has continued to be an actual viable KC personality and that is Kevin Kietzman.

The others are either gone or have been reduced to career rubble.

3. Ash-har Quraish - Ran out of town
4.  Katie Horner - Obsolete
5.  Neal & Marty - Obsolete

• Lost Chris Merrill to a bigger market due to 980's love of Scott Parks
• Put Nick Wright in drive time against Kietzman 
• Gave Chris and Cowboy a better time slot
• Moved Darla to a crappy time slot
• Ran off Mike Shannin 
• Turned the 2-6pm slot into Air America - We have all seen how well that works in this market right?  Dana Wright will be on this list in a year
• Put in a guy that nobody has heard of or thinks is funny to replace Merrill.  Half of this town still couldn't tell you the name of that guy including me.

What this information shows us is that there are only a handful of local media types than you can count on in this city and can actually be called residents of this area.  The rest are carpet baggers collecting a check in this city.

Roeland Park did what and why?

"Mayor Adrienne Foster said she was against the tax increase as well, but pointed to ongoing renovations on the City Hall and employee raises as the reason for it."

They are basically saying that they are raising taxes by 11% so that they can make more money and work in a nicer place.  Good job Roeland Park, Good Job.  

To make matters worst, the vote wasn't even close 6-2!

I had an email sent to me this morning with a link to a KC Star article written by Yael Alphabetsoup regarding the demise of JOCO and the greatness of kcmo and after reading it I couldn't stop laughing.  This guy seriously thinks that increased taxes and growth of government are  signs that the tides have turned in the metro?  WOW!

What he doesn't take into consideration is that unlike kcmo we don't have to do a complete face lift on our entire area, fight county corruption, deal with failing schools, record setting murder  rates, bridges-roads-sewers that are among the worst in the nation and yes our snow even gets removed from our streets.

Face it, KCMO would have to spend billions upon billions of dollars to even come close to the quality of life, government services, parks, property values and schools that we have in Joco.  

Instead of comparing tax increases and big government to greatness how about you tackle the real issues that your city is facing.

• Why are there people getting murdered and shot on a nightly basis within your city limits?
• Why are more kids dropping out of school than graduating in your school district?
• Why are those that graduate stuck with a diploma from an unaccredited school district?
• Why are the majority of the city parks in ruins and unsafe for families?
• Why is your city one of the most segregated in the Midwest (if not the nation)?
• Why is Google suddenly interested in expanding into JOCO so quickly?  

Yael, to put this in simple terms, your city is finally purchasing a color television while joco all ready has LED's.  You are putting a spoiler on a civic.  You are putting generic cereal into name brand boxes.  You are framing your 5th place ribbon.

You are saying that it's "OUR TIME" for kcmo and well we know how that turned out before.
