The 64106 - F'd from Birth

For the past few weeks I have been doing some research into this zip code to better understand the infrastructure that exists in this craphole.  Some of the lesser publicised information is a pretty good guide to what conditions are like for those that are born and raised in that environment.  Do we really expect newborns to be straight A students when they are 14 when they are born into a world of hellish conditions.

  • 2,044 homes that are in that area code were built before 1939 and only 2600 have been built since then.  How the hell are they still standing and what are conditions like inside of them?
  • The highest population rate is for the ages of 0-18.  Exactly how many kids is that per parent?  And the numbers have an incredible drop off after 18.
  • Despite the thoughts of many in the area, almost half the population in that zipcode are white folks.
  • There are over 100 sex offenders in that zip code alone
  • The average income is half the states average at 25k and 43% of the residents are below the poverty line.
  • The highest income level percentage is $0 per year.
  • High School enrollment is 1/3 of what the rest of the state averages
  • 723 residents over the age of 18 have employment disabilities
  • 1224 residents are living in some type of correctional facility
  • From 1999 - 2011 their have been over 18 Million dollars of government contracting awarded to businesses their.  WTF have they done with that money?
This is just ONE zip code in the east side.  How do you expect to solve a crime and education problem when kids are being born into this?  Could you be who you are today if you grew up in the above environment?

Brian Boyd - Music Was His Life

On Friday night at 11pm the Blue Valley area lost a great young man and musician, Brian Boyd.  He died south of Lawrence, Ks in a traffic accident just after 11pm and the news of his passing shook the whole area.

I never knew Brian but he was a great friend to my younger siblings in my family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him or knew of him.

From what I have been told Brian was a friend to everyone and made sure to treat people as such.  He was considered a genius musically and pushed band members at BVN to become the best that they could be.  That is rare to find nowadays in a "me first" world.

Here is a quote from one of his best friends.

"It's hard to but the legend of who is Brian Boyd in to words Other than everyone who spent any time with him gained a friend. It's just hard knowing how invincible he had been going through a lot of rough times and always coming out on top with a grin. He was too wreck less and never wore his seatbelt which came back to haunt him."

Rest in Peace Brian and thank you for being there for those in my family that were lucky enough to know you.

Kansas City needs vs Kansas City wants

Anyone that has been following Kansas City politics for the past few years has to be scratching their heads about the prioritization of projects.  The lack of recognition of the basic needs and wants of the citizens of Kansas City is a clear sign of blatant disregard and political elitism by elected and unelected leaders.  Is there anyone in City Hall or the KC Country club that gives a crap?

It would seem to me that the biggest needs for the city are the following
  • Sewers
  • Tearing down of Abandoned Houses
  • Increased Policing
  • Sidewalks
  • Vacant lot cleanup
  • Blight (half destroyed buildings, overgrown lawns, gang signs spray painted)
  • Something done with old schools
  • Getting rid of Kemper Arena
  • Improved roadways
  • Better trash pickup and snow removal
  • Lower Taxes
  • More equipment for first responders.

Instead the great minds in Kansas City have spent all their time and effort on the following
  • A light rail system that does absolutely nothing
  • Redoing the one thing that people in the city thinks works, the airport.
  • A downtown hotel
  • Removing homeless from camps
  • Fact finding trips vacations for government employees
  • Government control of Union Station (private ownership would have that thing making money hand over fist)
  • Low level drug arrests instead of high level players
  • Gun buyback programs that do NOT reduce crime
  • Retrofitting Kauffman instead of building downtown.
  • Funkhouser legal fees
  • MAST
  • 1000 other wastes of money

Here are some questions that I have
  • Can you imagine what the city would look and feel like if the leaders actually listened to the people instead of worrying about legacy projects or elitist paybacks for political support?
  • Wouldn't you like to see the Kemper family invest in cleaning up the city instead of crappy art that only 1% of the residents of this city will see?
  • Don't the elitist in this city owe the residents something for all of the crap that the taxpayers have funded for them?
  • Isn't anyone holding the politicians accountable for the lack of progress in addressing the basic needs of the city?
  • Does the city budget contain a breakdown of money spent per region in the city?  I think it would be interesting to see how much tax dollar money went to the Plaza, Downtown, Crown Center, East Side, West Side and NKC.

KC's Biggest Environmental Disaster

One could read the Northeast News story about the homeless and feel some pain for those that live under bridges, overpasses, in boxes and yes underground.  Hell you might even want to get off your fat JOCO ass and do something to help.  BUT who are we kidding right?

We all know that the real issue here is how the homeless are responsible for global warming in KC.  The homeless are global terrorists dead set on world wide destruction and pocket change.
Do you really feel sorry for those that leave trash behind that will end up destroying this planet in a billion years?  They are purposely trying to kill our great, great, great...... grandchildren to punish us for their misfortune.

And let us not forget the one person most directly harmed by this problem, George E. Kessler.  Is a park full of litter and human waste really fitting for the man that helped found city planning and landscape architecture?

Sippin on some Sizzurp - KC Media Fail

Tony's Kansas City: KC News Quiz: "What is purple drank?"

This made me laugh my ass off this morning because it is just sad that our local media is so far behind on what goes on underground.  I believe I even heard KMBZ call this "new" this morning this story.  Are Tony & I the only ones out there that actually know what this shit is
when talking about?

For those of you that don't know this "drink"  has been around for around 20 years or so and really took off in the Houston, Texas hip hop scene.  The whole music genre "chopped & screwed" was developed because of the popularity of the drink and how the slowed down music sounded while on it.

This crap has taken tons of lives and is more addictive than crack cocaine.  The purple stuff isn't new to the area, just new to the douchebags that cover news in this city that never go beyond the yellow tape at the crime scene so that they can better understand the real issues and causes of all this madness.

Missouri Privacy Rights?

Highway patrol gave feds Missouri weapon permits data - Columbia Daily Tribune : News

The first step in confiscating anything is to figure out who/where to find it.

It's your Zoo now East Side, enjoy

Altercation at KC Zoo ‘free day’ leads to arrest - KansasCity.com

I have held off on commenting on this story because honestly it was just too big of a target and there was just too much speculation on what happened. BUT NOW I feel like I can.

Let's see how much is wrong with this whole scenario

1.  Free day is suppose to reward tax payers for footing the bill for the Zoo BUT how many people that went actually paid taxes to fund the zoo?  I can guarantee that non of the people in the fight did.

2.  How does the mayor hope that East Side parents getting more involved in their kids lives would be good for them?  By all reports the PARENTS were the main offenders here.  The saying that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree applies.

3.  The Zoo will now suffer the same fate as Bannister Mall, Indian Springs Mall, Worlds of Fun and yes the Plaza.  Attendance will drop, funds will dry up, exhibits will close and blight will set in on the park.

4.  Alternatives will sprout up.  Deanna Rose is all ready a huge hit in Joco and takes away attendance from the zoo.  How long before a "new zoo" gets developed in Joco or West Wyco?  I have heard from several people out here that say that they will NOT be back.

5.  You knew it was coming.  The Zoo is surrounded by a war zone.  This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  Remember all the people getting car jacked on their way back from Starlight?????  How long will it be before someone get shot at the freaking zoo?  Do they have metal detectors?  Sufficient security?

The city has an average zoo at best, is it really worth the time, gas money and entry fee to put yourself at risk?  Jocoians everywhere will ask themselves this over the next few months and the results will not be good

East Side Genius

Family's home destroyed after unusual chain reaction led to fire - KCTV5

It isn't uncommon for East Siders to reach Wile E. Coyote status and these folks aren't an exception.  "Unusual chain reaction" is PC for dumb f$@%$.

The Wire - Brought to you by the #5 and Letter G

IT AIN'T GRAND AND THERE AIN'T NO VIEW

Well we finally received the answer to the question that was asked all last week by the media "elite" in this city.  5, 5 people must get shot at on place before people pay attention to another VIOLENT east side weekend.  If you had the #6 congrats, you win.  I for one put the number closer to 8 but I didn't figure in a slow news weekend and lack of weather hype.

How many people will no jump on the band wagon and start talking about the horror's of East Side violence today?  How many of them will completely talk out of their ass with poor information and lack of insight or first hand knowledge?  ALL OF THEM

The best will be Dana & Parks.  These two are completely clueless to East Side going on's and make NO EFFORT to understand the problems that exist daily and how they came to be.  You won't hear about the migration of LA and Chicago gangs to the area. You wont hear about the power grab that took place once the mafia was "run out" of the area. You will never hear what the beefing is all about.  Instead you will hear "What are we to do Kansas City?", "It's sad" blah blah blah.

1.  6 hoppin, 5 droppin at a Grandview concert.
2.  2 more shot in concert shooting spillover in Grandview.
3.  Finally a normal Kansas City shooting victim

Nothing but Trouble

The 16 Most Traumatic Things About "Nothing But Trouble"

This little gem of a movie is a must see.  Every time I see the town in this movie I think of the East Bottoms (no not the west that you all know).

2 Year Old is Proud of his father

Man charged in high-speed police pursuit in Grandview | Local News - KMBC Home

You just know that the 2 year old son of this guy is proud to call him Dad.  100mph with no seat belt, hide and seek in a frozen creek and then off to family pictures.  Nothing beats a positive male role model.

Dipshit Poet Society

What happens when you give an ignorant hipster wannabe poet a little attention in metro blogs?  The ultra sensitive and extremely untalented get offended and cry to the blogger and label it's readers as racist and uneducated...

I am pretty sure that there are more doctors, lawyers and business executives that read our local blogs than attend some hipster poetry reading.  Seriously, what does a poet make annually?  20k?  lol.  Someone needs to tell these coffee house burnouts that it's time to grow up and contribute to society in a meaningful way and to be grateful that someone even noticed their otherwise nonexistent "art".

Art F's over History

KC Art Institute to demolish historic Donaldson House on Oak Street next week - KansasCity.com

Did the Art Institute get new leadership recently?  I never really heard  anything bad about them until the past two weeks.  Anyone that donates money to these tools after these past few weeks is seriously not paying attention.
